Firefighting 1 - 1986 RAAF Fire Training in Victoria

Firefighting Practice on LPG -The flame coming out of the top is going about 60-70 feet high; the one coming out ofthe front is about 40 feet, straight at us. The valve we have to shut off is just at the base of the tank.

Firefighting 2

Firefighting Practice on LPG - Halfway to the tank - you can see the flames coming over the top and to the sides. I am on the righthand side, up front, hanging on to the nozzle. I could feel the flames on my elbow and side of my face!

Firefighting 3

Firefighting Practice on LPG -We're about 3 feet from the valve now. The instructor has the yellow reflector on his helmet - he's touching my arm to let us know that from here on it's up to us and not to let the fog pattern drop or we drop! The force of the gas was pushing the water back over our heads and literally pouring down my back, the front of me was as dry as a bone! The heat was incredible, the noise was deafening! All in all, very scary and a BIG buzz!

Firefighting 4 - Amberley RAAF Base

A P4 Osh Kosh Fire Truck producing foam onto a simulated crash of an F18 aircraft for night practice.

Firefighting 5 - 1989 RAAF "kangaroo '89" exercise Derby W.A.

The P4 Osh Kosh crew: I'm 2nd on left

Firefighting 6, 7 & 8 - Crash at Darwin air base 1984

RSAF A4 Skyhawk aqua-planed on landing. Ian Paul and I turned out to this one in the TFGP fire truck. No casualties, pilot walked away.
